Find Your Flow: Stop Overthinking & Start Moving Forward in Business | Wired Differently Ep 036

Feeling Stuck? It’s Not You—It’s Misalignment

Ever feel like you’re constantly working but not actually moving? You start projects, second-guess yourself, jump from one idea to the next, and months later, realize you’re no closer to where you wanted to be.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Many entrepreneurs—especially neurodivergent ones—struggle with overthinking, procrastination, and burnout not because they’re lazy or unmotivated, but because they’re out of alignment.

In this article (and in our latest Wired Differently episode), we’re breaking down why misalignment keeps you stuck and how you can get back into flow so progress feels natural, not forced.

Why Overthinking & Stagnation Might Be an Alignment Issue

When you’re aligned with your mission, vision, and values, decision-making becomes easier. You stop debating every choice, procrastination fades, and you move forward with confidence. But when you’re out of alignment, everything feels harder.

Some signs that misalignment might be keeping you stuck:

  • You’re spinning your wheels but making no real progress

  • You second-guess every decision, worried you’ll make the wrong one

  • You jump from idea to idea but never fully commit

  • You feel overwhelmed, burned out, or unsure about your next steps

  • You’re attracting the wrong clients, opportunities, or team members

If you recognize yourself in any of these, you’re not broken—you just need clarity and alignment.

Step 1:
Define (or Redefine) Your Mission, Vision & Values

Let’s be real—most entrepreneurs have filled out a “Mission, Vision, and Values” worksheet at some point. Maybe at a workshop, during a business planning session, or because someone told you it was important.

But here’s the problem: most people treat it like a one-time exercise instead of an ongoing guide.

Your mission, vision, and values should shape every decision you make. They aren’t just words on a page; they’re the guardrails that keep you focused and prevent shiny object syndrome from derailing you.

Here’s how to think about them in a practical way:

  • Mission – What impact do you want to have? Who do you serve?

  • Vision – Where are you going? What’s the bigger goal you’re working toward?

  • Values – What principles guide how you operate and make decisions?

When you get clear on these, your business decisions get easier. You stop wasting energy on things that don’t fit and start saying "Hell yes!" to the things that do.

Step 2:
Recognize When You’re on a Side Quest

Neurodivergent entrepreneurs love ideas. We can dream up brilliant new projects faster than most people can finish their morning coffee. But not every idea is your idea.

Sometimes, we get caught in side quests—projects that feel exciting but don’t actually move us toward our big goal.

Ask yourself:

  • 🤔 Is this a distraction or an aligned opportunity?

  • 🤔 Will this move me toward my vision, or just keep me busy?

  • 🤔 Am I avoiding something I need to do by focusing on this instead?

If something doesn’t align with your mission, vision, and values, it’s okay to let it go. You don’t have to chase every opportunity. The right ones will support your bigger picture.

Step 3:
Find Your Flow Instead of Forcing Productivity

You don’t have to hustle yourself into exhaustion to be successful. In fact, forcing productivity can actually make it harder to get things done.

Flow state is that magical place where work feels easy, ideas come effortlessly, and you’re fully engaged in what you’re doing. But you can’t force yourself into flow—you have to create the right conditions for it.

Some ways to get into flow:

  • 🎯 Align your tasks with your strengths & energy cycles – Do creative work when your brain is at its best, and save admin work for when energy dips.

  • 🛑 Stop multitasking – Focus on one thing at a time. Your brain will thank you.

  • 🔄 Build systems that support you – Don’t rely on willpower alone. Use tools, automations, and accountability to keep yourself moving forward.

  • 🤝 Surround yourself with the right people – If you’re constantly explaining yourself or justifying your decisions, you’re in the wrong room. Find people who get it and support your growth.

When you design your business in a way that works with you instead of against you, progress stops feeling like a battle.

Step 4:
Make Decisions with Confidence

One of the biggest culprits of overthinking is fear of making the wrong decision. But here’s the truth:

📌 You don’t need to make perfect decisions. You just need to make aligned ones.

There’s no magical moment where someone will appear and tell you, “Yes, that was the right choice!” The only way to know is by taking action and adjusting as you go.

If a decision aligns with your mission, vision, and values, go for it.

If it doesn’t? Let it go. Simple as that.

What Happens When You Get Aligned?

When you stop overthinking and start aligning your business with who you truly are and what you truly want, everything changes.

  • 🚀 Decisions become easier

  • 🚀 You attract the right clients, opportunities, and team members

  • 🚀 You stop burning out from trying to force things that don’t fit

  • 🚀 You actually enjoy your work again

And the best part? You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Just had a (paid) call with a new client — she’s level one of my avatar — and the call was so chaotic (to me anyway) and I felt like I really sucked (hello imposter syndrome), but then she said ‘oh my god where have you been all my life’ and was so excited to work together and said this was the most helpful thing she’s had in a while.

I was like whatttttt!? I’m writing this in my journal of wins!

Jade was struggling to balance client's needs with her own — after joining, she went through a BIG level-up with her mindset and her business.

I’m working on the Content Ecosystem Map we were talking about last night… it is SO much better for me to see it this way… at least right now.

I’m working with ChatGPT and it is actually fun work and gets me excited. Thanks so much for this… my brain gets it!!!!

Gwen was balancing a LOT in her life and day job while trying to launch her business and build a legacy for her family — and we were happy to help!

I’m celebrating a partnership with Doctors for Providers! We had a meeting today and it went amazingly well. Now we have a VERY lucrative partnership. My new partner will be adding me to their resource page, my services will be offered on every discovery call, and they will do a social media blast announcing our partnership.

What’s best of all is they don’t have anyone like me, no other marketing company 🎉The cherry on top… they work with franchises!

💗 This wouldn’t have been possible without the resources and guidance I got from the mentors at The Academy.

Yari was awesomely dedicated, but also a bit directionless. She knew what she wanted, but not how to get there. Now she's confidently negotiating partnerships with people that can put her in front of her ideal clients!
